Our Story
For over 23 years, we made the journey up to the San Luis Valley to camp, explore, and unwind—drawn in by the peace, beauty, and sense of freedom that this place offers. It quickly became more than just a getaway. It became a part of us. When the world slowed down during COVID, we decided to make a big change: we left the city behind and moved up here full-time to live closer to what we truly love—nature, simplicity, and the quiet joy of campfire nights under the stars. Once we got established in the area, it didn’t take long to realize we wanted to share this beautiful corner of Colorado with others. That dream became Close to Adventure Camping—a place where guests can slow down, reconnect, and experience the same magic that first brought us here all those years ago. Whether you're here for a weekend or a while, we hope you feel the same sense of welcome and wonder we did the first time we set up camp.
